How to apply

The Course

If you are looking to develop your career in early years or increase understanding through professional development, this could be the course for you! The aim of the two-year Level 5 Diploma for the Early Years Senior Practitioner qualification is to support leadership and management skills in early years and the knowledge and skills relating to early years practice.

To undertake this qualification you will be working in job roles in an early years setting such as:

  • Manager
  • Deputy manager
  • Room leader/supervisor

The areas covered in this qualification include:

  • quality environments
  • early years pedagogy
  • behaviour
  • care routines
  • professional development
  • special educational needs and disability (SEND)
  • safeguarding
  • inclusion

  • play for learning

  • the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

  • health, safety and well-being
  • roles and responsibilities.

Upon successful completion of the course, you could work as a Senior Early Years Practitioner within the industry across the private, voluntary and independent sectors, or progress to higher education in a relevant subject area.

We welcome an application profile that meets one of the following:

  • A BTEC Level 3 qualification in early years
  • To study on this course you muse be 19 years old or above
  • A GCE Advanced Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or adequate performance in more than one GCE subject
  • Other related Level 3 qualifications
  • An Access to Higher Education Diploma awarded by an approved further education institution
  • Related work experience as determined at interview with the Course Team Leader
  • An international equivalent of the above

and:

  • GCSE grades A* to C ( 9 to 4) in maths and English
Upon successful completion of the course, you could work as a senior early years practitioner within the early years workforce across the private, voluntary and independent sectors, or progress to higher education in a relevant subject area.

Adults can enrol for FREE

You may see a fee attached to the course you’re interested in, but if you’re aged 19+ you’ll more than likely be eligible to enrol onto an adult course for FREE.
