How to apply

The Course

This course is ideal for those who want to do hairdressing but do not have the entry requirements for the Level 2 programme.

The course will cover:

Introduction to the hair & beauty sector
Present a professional image in the salon
The art of dressing hair
Follow health & safety in the salon
Working with others in the hair & beauty sector
Create a hair & beauty image
Colour hair using temporary colour
Salon reception duties
Create and maintain retail displays in the salon
Shampoo and conditioning

You will also study the following as part of your study programme:

Functional skills Maths & English
Certificate in Personal and Social Development
Styling Women’s hair
Promote products and services to clients in a salon
Hair plaiting

Entry requirements

Typically you will need 4 GCSEs at grade 2 (E) or above.

Next steps

On successful completion of the course you could progress to a related Level 2 course at the College.

You may see a fee attached to the course you’re interested in, but if you’re aged 19+ you’ll more than likely be eligible to enrol onto an adult course for FREE.
