How to apply

The Course

This Level 2 is a multi-discipline course that covers a broad range of art & design processes in order to build confidence with art techniques. The course will allow students to strengthen their portfolio which can be used to progress to another course.

What’s does the course involve?
You will explore a range of subject matter and skills in:

  • The Arts in Context
  • Visual Studies
  • Textiles
  • Photography

  • portfolio building and career pathways

Students will study maths and English (Functional Skills or GCSE) if they have not achieved a grade 4/C or above.

Assessment
You will be assessed through a range of methods including practical artwork, presentations, discussions and written work. This will give you the opportunity to share your ideas visually, verbally and in written form. At the end of each project you will receive feedback and suggestions for how you can continually improve your work on the next assignment. You will also undertake two externally set assignments which will be internally and externally assessed.

The summer term offers you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt through the final major project; your outcomes for this will be presented at The End of Year Show.

Additional costs
Course materials cost approximately £50.00 per term for art materials and sketchbooks. You will be provided with a specific ‘Kit List’ once you have successfully been offered a place on the course.
