How to apply

The Course

Our maths courses are available to adult students of all abilities. Studying maths can improve your job prospects, help you progress further in your current career and be a stepping stone to further study. Our friendly and expert lecturers will develop your confidence and skills in a variety of mathematical topics, giving you the ability to operate confidently, effectively and independently in education, work and everyday life.

All classes take place in an inclusive, friendly and relaxed environment, and are available in the daytime and evening. Students often find that they make new friends along the way! 

At Cheshire College we offer GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications in both English and Maths After we receive your application, you will be invited to Campus to take an assessment so we can enrol you on the course that is right for you. 

Our GCSE courses run from September to June and are assessed by examinations at the end of May/beginning of June. The main areas you will study are:

  • Number
  • Proportion
  • Geometry
  • Algebra
  • Statistics

At exam time, our lecturers provide guidance and support with revision and exam techniques, helping you acquire that all important grade 4 (C) to progress in your career or access further study. 

Our Functional Skills courses run from September to July and there will be multiple opportunities throughout the year to sit exams. Courses are available from Entry Level 1 to Level 2 and are a gateway to increased confidence, improved job prospects and a progression route to higher-level study. You will learn maths that you will use every day at home and at work, enhancing your daily life. You will develop your understanding, skills and confidence with the following topics:

  • Mathematical Representation
  • Mathematical analysis
  • Problem solving and number
  • Geometry
  • Statistics

The course is open to all. Your level of study will be determined by an initial assessment.
xYou could progress to further or higher-level study. Our courses can also support you with progression into employment or help you step up in your current role.

Adults can enrol for FREE

You may see a fee attached to the course you’re interested in, but if you’re aged 19+ you’ll more than likely be eligible to enrol onto an adult course for FREE.
