How to apply

The Course

T Levels are new two-year, Level-3 study programmes combining classroom theory, practical learning and a minimum 315 hours of industry placement with an employer to make sure you have real experience of the workplace. At the end of the T Level, you are expected to demonstrate threshold competence, which means that you have gained the core knowledge and skills related to construction design and surveying and are well placed to develop full occupational competence with additional development and support once in employment in the construction sector.

Second Year Occupational Specialist units:

  • Performance Outcome 1: Measure the built environment
  • Performance Outcome 2: Analyse the built environment
  • Performance Outcome 3: Design the built environment
  • Performance Outcome 4: Verify delivery of the built environment

As part of the programme, you will also gain your Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card, which is a requirement of some contractors to prove you have the correct qualifications to undertake the job and is often a prerequisite to getting the job.

The course will be approximately four days per week at College with an additional 45 days of work placement across the two-year programme.

Typically you will need 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C (or above), including grade 4/C (or above) for maths and English.

Over your T Level journey you will gain a range of skills and substantial experience of working for employers, which will give you a number of progression options, including civil engineering technician, technical surveyor, building technician, engineering construction technician and architectural technician.

You could also progress to a HNC/D in Construction Management for England (HTQ) at the College, a foundation degree or degree course at univeristy or a higher-level apprenticeships that offer honours degrees as part of the programme.

Adults can enrol for FREE

You may see a fee attached to the course you’re interested in, but if you’re aged 19+ you’ll more than likely be eligible to enrol onto an adult course for FREE.
