How to apply

The Course

This programme is designed to provide you with the professional skills to plan, deliver, evaluate and improve activities and initiatives aimed at improving people’s fitness and health-related lifestyles. The programme is based on industry required knowledge and skills and will provide education and assessment that allow you to achieve required professional accreditation.

This is a flexible employment-related course that is studied full-time over 1 year at Cheshire College.

This programme includes: Level 2 Gym Based Instructor and Level 3 Personal Trainer and Exercise Referral.

Entry requirements

Our minimum entry requirements are 80 UCAS points from GCE A levels or equivalent (such as BTEC). Appropriate NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeships, work experience will also be considered. Learners without evidence of the above qualifications but with appropriate experience, who have the enthusiasm and aptitude for higher level study are encouraged to apply. Certain work placements will require DBS check. Applicants are also expected to have a GCSE in Maths and English at Grade A* – C or level 9 – 4.

Next steps

On completion of the programme you will have the background knowledge and skills to potentially achieve career progression in the fitness, leisure and health sectors. Job roles in advanced fitness instruction, personal training, exercise referral, strength & conditioning and physical activity promotion are typical of the careers graduates will be in a position to develop. You could also progress on to further study at a higher level in a related discipline.

Adults can enrol for FREE

You may see a fee attached to the course you’re interested in, but if you’re aged 19+ you’ll more than likely be eligible to enrol onto an adult course for FREE.
