How to apply

The Course

This qualification covers a very wide range of areas related to the skills and knowledge required for preparing to work in the nail industry.

The following units can be covered within this qualification:

Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
Enhance and maintain nails using UV gel
Enhance and maintain nails using liquid and powder
Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business
Plan and create nail art designs
Develop a range of creative nail images
Prepare and finish nail overlays using electric files
Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities

All students will complete the mandatory units and a choice of optional units, which will allow you to gain the knowledge and experience that is required to work as a nail technician within the nail industry. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to compete in national competitions.

Entry requirements

Typically you will need 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C, including a 4/3 (C/D) combination for maths and English.

Next steps

Following successful completion of this course you could progress into employment as a senior nail technician or widen your skills by studying on further beauty courses such as the Level 4 Diploma in Management Practice and Advanced Techniques in the Hair and Beauty Sector.

You may see a fee attached to the course you’re interested in, but if you’re aged 19+ you’ll more than likely be eligible to enrol onto an adult course for FREE.
