Who should study this qualification?
If you are looking to persue a career in bookkeeping, then this course is a great option for you! You will have the opportunity to develop your existing skills and knowledge to an advanced level. The course can also provide progression if you already have bookkeeping knowledge, either to gain employment in a bookkeeping role or to progress to further study. This qualification is suitable if you have completed the Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping, and if you are already working in a bookkeeping role you can progress by gaining formal recognition of your skills.
You might want to take this course to focus solely on developing your bookkeeping skills in order to progress quickly to employment, or to focus on becoming a bookkeeper. You could also start with this qualification before progressing to complete the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting in order to gain a wider knowledge of accountancy.
What does this qualification cover?
You will gain the advanced bookkeeping skills needed to work in a bookkeeping role or progress to higher-level accountancy. This qualification comprises two mandatory units:
On successful completion of this qualification, you will have developed the skills needed for financial processes, including accounting principles and concepts, advanced bookkeeping and preparing financial statements. You will also gain an understanding of business issues regarding payroll and value added tax (VAT). All of this will be learned in the context of the ethical issues that a bookkeeper may encounter in their professional life. The two units are assessed individually through computer-based end of unit assessments.
