The Course

This T Level programme has been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so everything you will learn will meet the needs of industry and prepare you for work. They provide the knowledge and experience needed to open the door to highly-skilled employment, an Apprenticeship or higher-level study, including university. The core components provide a broad understanding of basic health and science concepts you will need to know before moving onto to your occupational specialism and industry placement: In your first year you will study the following topics: · Working within the health and science sector · The healthcare science sector · Health, safety and environmental regulations in the health and science sector · Health and safety regulations applicable in healthcare science · Providing person-centred care when working in healthcare science · Infection prevention and control in healthcare science settings · Managing information and data within the health and science sector · Managing information and data · Good scientific and clinical practice · Good scientific practice · Core Science concepts · Further Science concepts The core component will be assessed through a project set by employers in the industry and two externally-set tests. The content of the Assisting with Healthcare Science occupational specialism will cover the following topics: · Contribute to patient care by supporting physiological, physical and clinical engineering services to produce reliable data and images for use by healthcare professionals in diagnosis and treatment · Contribute to patient care by supporting the collection of a range of specimens for analysis to aid diagnosis and treatment · Contribute to patient care by processing and analysing service user specimens in a range of life science areas and laboratory environments to produce reliable data sets for use by healthcare professionals in diagnosis and treatment.

T Levels offer many opportunities for progression, including: · Enter Employment: You can use the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained to start working in the Healthcare Science sector · Apprenticeship: There are many opportunities offered through apprenticeships that allow you to carry on learning (20%) whilst spending most of your time (80%) furthering your skills in the workplace · Higher Education: If you choose to study further, your T Level is worth UCAS points and will allow you entry onto certain courses. Please check UCAS website as course entry requirements vary The overall aim of this T Level is to see you progress into a career as a Clincial Scientist or a Healthcare Science Associate.
