The Course

The National Extended Diploma in Creative Media Practice is a fun but challenging course, ideal if you are seeking a career in media or progression into higher education. The course allows you to explore a wide range of media subjects and to gain theoretical and practical knowledge of the concepts and processes involved in making media products.

You’ll also learn and develop a broad range of media skills and understanding of the production processes involved in the various media. Contextual studies, media concepts, marketing, audience research and investigation of the industry support the practical areas of the course. Your assignments will allow you to make realistic media products using the College’s outstanding professional TV, radio and recording studios, often working with external clients on live assignment briefs. This also includes a client based work experience project.

The Radio and Audio Production pathway will give you the opportunity to study across various disciplines including foley/sound effect production, music technology, and radio. You will write, produce, and present your work on the radio with the opportunity to appear on a real community radio station. This course is supported by lessons in moving image where you will produce a short video production to enable you to test your audio production skills in creating sound effects and music.
