The Course

The Extended Diploma in Media is a fun but challenging course, ideal if you are seeking a career in media or progression into higher education. The course allows you to explore a wide range of media subjects and to gain theoretical and practical knowledge of the concepts and processes involved in making media products. You’ll also learn and develop a broad range of media skills and understanding of the production processes involved in the various media. Contextual studies, media concepts, marketing, audience research and investigation of the industry support the practical areas of the course. Your assignments will allow you to make realistic media products using the College’s outstanding facilities, often working with external clients on live assignment briefs. The Games Development pathway will allow you to study the process of developing game ideas, designing characters, storylines, and marketing materials, and gain essential knowledge in 3D modelling and scripting. Studying on this course will give you essential insight and information into the gaming industry, including how to pitch ideas and crucial project management skills. This course is supported by audio production lessons which will enable you to design sound effects for your game and strengthen your industry knowledge and skills even further.
