The Course

The Level 3 Certificate in Community Interpreting is a nationally recognised qualification for bilingual individuals seeking to work as professional interpreters within public service settings. This course provides the essential skills, knowledge, and understanding needed to interpret accurately, effectively and ethically in real-world community contexts.

Students will explore key topics such as the role and boundaries of the interpreter, interpreting techniques including consecutive and sight translation and the principles of ethics and professional conduct. The course also enhances language and cultural awareness and provides sector-specific knowledge relevant to settings such as healthcare, housing, and social services.

This programme is ideal for those already working or volunteering in multicultural and multilingual environments or looking to pursue freelance or employed interpreting opportunities. It is also suitable for students progressing from a Level 2 interpreting course or a similar qualification.
