How to apply

The Course

Physical Education is a rapidly expanding area throughout the UK and the A Level is a fascinating and challenging subject where you will work in a supportive atmosphere. This is a course designed for students who have a genuine interest in sporting activities. The course aims to provide a knowledge of principles underlying sport and physical education through classroom study and practical work, backed up by lots of enrichment activities in sports.

Typically you will need 5 GCSEs, including two at grade 5/B (or above) and three at grade 4/C (or above) including maths and English. You will also need a grade in 5 Biology GCSE, or a 5/5 for Science GCSE if you studied the double award.
You can progress to university to study a variety of courses, including sport science, sport studies, leisure management, teaching, sports therapy, physiotherapy plus many more. For those wishing to study physiotherapy, subject choice should be considered carefully and further advice sought. Other areas include police and fire services, armed forces, and sports industry and development.

Adults can enrol for FREE

You may see a fee attached to the course you’re interested in, but if you’re aged 19+ you’ll more than likely be eligible to enrol onto an adult course for FREE.
