This course will be of interest if you have a keen interest and some experience in the performing arts. You will develop your skills and expand your range into the various disciplines of improvisation, acting skills, physical theatre and a variety of music skills. You will regularly take part in dance classes and workshops to fully explore dance styles such as urban, jazz or contemporary and have opportunities to perform to live audiences in our theatre and in-studio performance projects.
This is a course for committed students who want to progress on to a Level 3 course in the performing arts, and pursue a career in the industry. Students will develop their acting technique in a range of different styles and performance skills, as well as enhance creativity. The course will help you gain an understanding of the nature of the industry and recognise the professional requirements needed to gain employment within the sector. You will gain an understanding of the jobs available and recognise how your skills might match a role within the sector. Assessment is largely through practical work, but you will also be required to produce written work, reviews, log books, presentations and evaluations. Theatre trips are an exciting and important element of the course and we offer trips to a wide variety of performances, including musicals, dramas and physical theatre productions.
