How to apply

The Course

This qualification enables you to study the principles and applications of medical science through three mandatory units, and further explore other areas in more detail via an optional unit. You will also learn practical and investigation skills that build on this fundamental knowledge.

The qualification is designed to be taken alongside A levels as part of a study programme and can link to learning in A level subjects such as Physical Education, Sport, Sociology, Chemistryand Psychology. It is an ideal course for you if wish to progress to higher education as a pathway to employment.

You will study the following mandatory units:

  • Principles of Human Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology
  • Human Biology and Health Issues
  • Practial Microbiology and Infectious Diseases

You will select one of the following optional units:

  • Diseases, Disorders, Treatments and Therapies
  • Biomedical Science
  • Safe Environments in Health and Social Care
  • Human Reproduction & Fertility

Due to the overlap in course content this course is not suitable to be studied alongside A Level Biology.

Typically you will need 5 GCSEs, including two grade 5/B (or above) and three grade 4/C (or above) including maths or English.
Most of our A-Level students also go on to study at top universities.

Funding for Adult Courses

You may see a fee attached to the course you’re interested in, but if you are 19+ there may be funding options available to cover the cost of your course.
