Level 1 Hospitality and Catering is a final year course within our Entry Level Employability Pathway and helps to support students onto their next steps. This may be a mainstream college course, employment or volunteering. The course has a keen focus on work experience in the hospitality and catering industry whilst allowing students to develop their independence and maturity. Students will practice their interview skills, create a CV and learn to write application letters and forms as well as gaining an understanding of body language and communication skills. All students are given the opportunity to take part in internal and external placements in an area of their choice. When you apply to the College our expert team will discuss the different pathways with you and conduct a starting point diagnostic assessment so you can be enrolled on the right level and course for you. You may be able to start on the Employability Pathway or you may be advised to begin with the Living Independently Pathway. Whatever your starting point we will help you to find the right course for you. For students with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) that have successfully completed the Level 1 Hospitality and Catering course, there may be the opportunity to progress to a Supported Internship, which is a bespoke work-based study programme based on a student’s individual careers aspirations. It usually lasts for one year and includes an extended work placement that lasts for at least 6 months. You’ll take the first step from education into the workplace while gaining the skills you need to get a paid job.
