The Course

Criminology is the study of criminal behaviour and how it can be managed, controlled and prevented.This fascinating course will look modules including Changing Awareness of Crime, Criminological Theories, Crime Scene to Courtroom and Crime and Punishment. It is suitable for learners interested in Law, Sociology and Psychology who have narrowly missed the entry requirements for these subjects. Law is a growth area of the College and many learners continue to study criminology-related courses at Higher Education level (last year, 48 learners continued on to study Law ). This two-year course complements our A Level programme and can be chosen as one of your A Level choices.

Typically you will need 5 GCSEs, including two at grade 5/B (or above) and three at grade 4/C (or above) including maths and English.
There is a growth in jobs in the criminal justice system, and health and social care nationally, which many learners may wish to progress into. Learners can also progress onto related degrees at university in subjects such as Law and Criminology.
