If you want a career working in the exciting world of Games Development, Journalism or Film and TV, this course will help you on your way. Combining key knowledge modules with a range of practical projects, you will gain extensive hands-on experience and create an impressive portfolio to help secure your dream job or university top-up place. The course provides for a general grounding of the core elements in creative media before allowing you to choose your pathway to either games development, journalism or film and TV with a named qualification to reflect your chosen pathway. This course will help you develop a range of skills including teamwork, leadership, communication, problem solving and decision making and all within a Creative Media context. Subjects studied: · HNC Creative Media Production (Film and Television) · There are six mandatory modules which must be studied: Module 1: Individual Project (Pearson-set) Module 2: Creative Media Industry Module 3: Professional Practice Module 7: Film & Television Practices Module 8: Film Studies Module 9: Light & Sound Plus two optional modules are to be studied – these modules can be negotiated* with the Course Team Leader to best match skills and employment goals. · HNC Creative Media Production (Journalism) There are six mandatory modules which must be studied: Module 1: Individual Project (Pearson-set) Module 2: Creative Media Industry Module 3: Professional Practice Module 10: Journalism Module 11: Journalism & Society Module 12: Digital Page Production Plus two optional modules are to be studied – these modules can be negotiated* with the Course Team Leader to best match skills and employment goals. · HNC Creative Media Production (Game Development) There are six mandatory modules which must be studied: Module 1: Individual Project (Pearson-set) Module 2: Creative Media Industry Module 3: Professional Practice Module 21: Game Development Practices Module 22: Games in Context Module 23: Game Design Plus two optional modules are to be studied – these modules can be negotiated* with the Course Team Leader to best match skills and employment goals *negotiated modules will depend on group size and staff specialisms

We welcome an application profile that meets one of the following: • a BTEC Level 3 qualification in Creative Media Production • a GCE Advanced Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or adequate performance in more than one GCE subject • other related Level 3 qualifications • an Access to Higher Education Diploma awarded by an approved further education institution • related work experience as determined at interview with the Course Team Leader • an international equivalent of the above and: • GCSE grades A* to C and/or 9 to 4 in maths and English
Successful candidates may be able to move on to the HND in Creative Media Production (also delivered at the College) then progress to a top up degree. They also can gain employment in a wide range of creative media sectors.
