The Course

The National Extended Diploma in Creative Media Practice is a fun but challenging course, ideal if you are seeking a career in media or progression into higher education. The course allows you to explore a wide range of media subjects and to gain theoretical and practical knowledge of the concepts and processes involved in making media products.

You’ll also learn and develop a broad range of media skills and understanding of the production processes involved in the various media. Contextual studies, media concepts, marketing, audience research and investigation of the industry support the practical areas of the course. Your assignments will allow you to make realistic media products using the College’s outstanding professional TV, radio and recording studios, often working with external clients on live assignment briefs. This also includes a client based work experience project.

The TV and Film pathway will give you the opportunity to study television and film, learning how to deconstruct and analyse productions before planning and producing your own. Your tutor will guide you through the production process, using industry standard documentation and practices to equip you with the right knowledge and understanding to work in this business. This course is supported by lessons in audio production, allowing you to learn soundtrack production. Not only will you make your own video production but you will get the opportunity to create your own sound effects.
