The Course

Are you passionate about music? Would you like to embark on a career in the music industry? This course will give you a valuable insight into the skills necessary to succeed in the music and music technology industry-sectors. Through a combination of formal lectures, practical workshops and research activities, you will explore a varied range of topics that will help to broaden your musical skill-base. You will learn topics such as: How to plan and create a music product, how to work as a musical ensemble, how to produce a musical recordings and how relevant computer systems are used in the music industry. This is a BTEC NQF qualification that is assessed through a combination of internal and external assessments. The internal assessments will take the form of vocational assignments that reflect working-practices within the performing arts industry. (i.e. Produce a musical recording) There are also two exams which are externally assessed.

Typically you will need 4 GCSEs at grade D or grade 3 or above, including a 3/2 combinations for maths and English
Completion of this course will provide you with a range of options both in education and employment. Many learners will progress onto a relevant Level 3 course within CCSW. This will help you develop your professional and creative skillsets to a more advanced level. You could also choose to apply for a course in a different subject area, such as IT or Media. You may access potential employment opportunities within the creative arts industry sectors either directly or after additional education. This includes (but is not limited to) careers as a musician, producer, broadcast engineer, entertainment manager, composer or teacher.
