If you are an aspiring actor, director or teacher, then this course is ideal
as you will develop your skills and expand your range into the various
disciplines of scriptwriting, directing, physical theatre, theatre for children,
storytelling and variety performance. You will be encouraged to develop and
perform work that may include your own as well as published scripts. You will
perform in our professional theatres, Centre Stage at the Crewe Campus and the
John Prescott Theatre at the Ellesmere Port Campus, in front of live audiences.
You may also have the opportunity to tour and perform in local
schools.
This is a course for committed students who want to pursue
a career in Performing Arts. Students will develop their acting technique in a
range of different styles and performance skills, as well as enhance
creativity. As a performance company you will operate with realistically
imposed artistic, business and financial constraints. It will help you gain an
understanding of the nature of the industry and recognise the professional
requirements needed to gain employment within the sector. You will gain an
understanding of the jobs available and recognise how your skills might match a
role within the sector.
Operating as a performance company you will learn hands on. The skills required for the industry will be developed, before students progress onto their chosen field at drama school or university.
Assessment is largely through practical work, you will also be required to produce written work, reviews, log books, presentations and evaluations.
