Why study Further Maths?
Further Maths A-Level is taken in addition to
the ‘single’ Maths and is designed for learners with a particular aptitude and
strong enjoyment of Maths. This subject is an excellent preparation for degree
courses with a high Mathematical content such as Engineering, Physics, Economics
and Accountancy as well as Maths itself. Mathematics is a fascinating and
rewarding area of study and each learner works in an atmosphere that is both
challenging and supportive.
Members of the Maths team use a variety of
teaching strategies including ILT to ensure that the experience of learners is
both satisfying and rewarding. The Maths facilities are excellently equipped and
provide a first class learning environment. In addition, there is an extensive
support programme designed to provide extended opportunities for successful and
timely help for those who need it.
What else can you do on this course?
This is not just an academic subject
studied in the classroom. We try to make your learning as relevant as possible,
by including visits to exhibitions and employers where you can see the real
world application of your subject. Also Further Maths students are encouraged to
do the UK Maths Challenge.
