How to apply

The Course

This qualification provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the children’s care and education sector, focusing on ages 0–8. Through four mandatory units, the course combines examined and internally assessed elements to develop both theoretical and practical knowledge. Students will explore key areas including child development, safeguarding, play and learning, and reflective practice in early years settings.

The course complements A Level subjects such as Sociology, Psychology, Biology and English, offering a strong foundation for those interested in progressing to higher education and eventual employment in education or childcare. Students will develop the skills and knowledge required to understand how children grow, learn and are supported within early years environments, preparing them for further study or professional pathways.

Two units are externally examined, while two are internally assessed through applied tasks designed to strengthen understanding of real-world childcare practices.
