How to apply

The Course

This Level 3 Diploma provides the technical knowledge and practical skills required for a career in fabrication and welding. Students will develop advanced techniques in welding, machining and fabrication, building on core engineering principles. The course is designed to deepen your understanding of working with different materials, tools, and equipment used in industry-standard workshops. You will explore key areas including MIG, TIG, and MMA welding, as well as sheet metalwork and health and safety in the engineering environment. Sessions are delivered through a mix of theory and hands-on training in fully equipped workshops, providing a strong foundation for progression into employment or higher-level study. Assessment is carried out through a combination of practical tasks, portfolio work, and written assignments, designed to reflect industry expectations and real-world scenarios.

Typically you will need to have achived a grade 4/C in GCSE English and maths or a Level 2 Engineering qualification.
On successful completion of this course, a student can progress to higher-levels of Diplomas in Engineering, or into employment in the sector.
