How to apply

The Course

On our Performing Arts Technical Theatre HNC you are part of a working production team creating, organising, performing and managing all manner of events and productions including musicals, fashion shows, verbatim theatre, pantomime and innovative work.Our higher education course is unique, as it allows you to combine your studies while working with our partner organisations to build a work profile and gain valuable work experience.We ensure you are trained and skilled in all areas of our changing industry, working in partnership with our partners on industry standard equipment that industry uses.

If you are looking to be a technician, designer, stage manager, run your own production hire business or become an event manager, this is the course for you. Join us and become part of a diverse network including our partners and alumni:

Not only can you gain a recognised qualification but you will also become one of our network of many technicians, who are already out there.

We welcome an application profile that meets one of the following:

  • A BTEC Level 3 qualification in technical theatre
  • A GCE Advanced Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or adequate performance in more than one GCE subject
  • Other related Level 3 qualifications
  • An Access to Higher Education Diploma awarded by an approved further education institution
  • Related work experience as determined at interview with the Course Team Leader
  • An international equivalent of the above

and:

  • GCSE grades A* to C ( 9 to 4) in maths and English would be advantageous
Successful candidates may be able to move on to the HND in Performing Arts (also delivered at the College) then progress to a top up degree. They also can gain employment in a wide range of performance art sectors.

Adults can enrol for FREE

You may see a fee attached to the course you’re interested in, but if you’re aged 19+ you’ll more than likely be eligible to enrol onto an adult course for FREE.
