How to apply

The Course

This course is designed for students looking to continue their education through applied learning within the field of manufacturing engineering. It offers a comprehensive study of the sector, focusing on core technical and managerial skills relevant to today’s engineering industry. The course develops your understanding of manufacturing systems, quality control, process optimisation and project management. It is ideal for those seeking a career in engineering, or wishing to progress within their current role in a manufacturing environment.

You will explore a range of practical and theoretical topics including manufacturing operations, engineering principles, CAD/CAM processes, and industrial robotics. Through this programme, you will gain the knowledge and technical expertise required for roles at technician or junior managerial level.

Students will study mandatory units including:

  • Engineering Design

  • Engineering Mathematics

  • Engineering Science

  • Managing a Professional Engineering Project

  • Manufacturing Processes

  • Quality and Process Improvement

Additional optional units allow students to tailor their learning to suit specific areas of interest within the manufacturing industry.

We welcome an application profile that meets one of the following:

  • A BTEC Level 3 qualification in engineering
  • A GCE Advanced Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or adequate performance in more than one GCE subject
  • Other related Level 3 qualifications
  • An Access to Higher Education Diploma awarded by an approved further education institution
  • Related work experience as determined at interview with the Course Team Leader
  • An international equivalent of the above

and:

  • GCSE grades A* to C (9 to 4) in maths and English

Relevant subjects: Maths, Science, electronics, Computer Systems, electrical Installation, Engineering.

You could progress to a Level 5 HND in a similar subject or a higher level apprenticeship at the College. This course will also provide you with the knowledge and skills to work at higher technician level or junior management within the manufacturing and engineering sectors.

The course fee shown is the co-funded rate which is only available for people living in the local authority areas of Cheshire West and Chester or Cheshire East. If you live outside of these local authorities please contact the College for fee information.

You may see a fee attached to the course you’re interested in, but if you are 19+ there may be funding options available to cover the cost of your course.
