New Horizons: Adults Change Careers and Land Jobs with Major Airlines Following Cabin Crew Course at Cheshire College

Three adult students from Cheshire College – South & West have already secured jobs with leading airlines after completing the Cabin Crew training course at the College’s Ellesmere Port Campus.

The course, designed for adults looking to change careers or re-enter the workforce, has seen quick success — with students now preparing to start new roles at Ryanair, EasyJet, and Virgin Atlantic. Out of eight adults enrolled in the programme, nearly half have already received job offers just weeks after completing their training.

Ruth Szolkowska, Vice Principal – Innovation, Curriculum and Quality, praised the course’s impact:

“We’re proud to offer training that opens real doors for adults looking for a fresh start or a new challenge. These students are proof that with ambition and the right support, you can transform your career and your future. The success of this group speaks volumes about the quality of our teaching and the demand for skilled, job-ready candidates in the travel industry.”

The Cabin Crew course includes hands-on experience and practical assessments, tailored to airline requirements.

Sarah Broady, Course Lecturer and experienced industry professional, added:

“From day one, our students showed real enthusiasm for joining the aviation industry — many coming from completely different career backgrounds. Throughout the course, I’ve watched their confidence, professionalism and skills grow week by week.”

“It’s incredible to see them now stepping into their dream roles.”

Successful student, Nicky Taylor, who will be joining Virgin Atlantic, shared:

“Becoming cabin crew was a childhood dream I never thought I’d achieve. I started out in the beauty industry and later became a nurse, so my background is really varied — but I wanted to do something completely different.”

“The facilities at the College are fantastic, and it’s been such a great course. Life is far too short, and you’re never too old to start again. I’ve now secured a job with Virgin Atlantic and I’m just waiting for my training date — then I’ll be up in the skies!”

The programme is part of a wider adult learning offer at Cheshire College – South & West, which continues to support adults of all ages to retrain, upskill, and unlock new career opportunities. For more information on adult courses visit https://www.ccsw.ac.uk/Adult-learners/
