The Level 1 Award in Introductory Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) Welding is ideal if you are new to welding and want to gain practical experience using the TIG welding process. The course provides a hands-on introduction, helping you develop your technique, accuracy and confidence in a workshop environment.
Topics include:
Practical sessions give you the opportunity to become familiar with TIG welding equipment and develop the skills needed to produce a range of welds and joints. You will practise controlling the welding process while working towards producing accurate, consistent welds to a good standard.
Health and safety is also an important part of the course, helping you understand the precautions and safe working practices required when using TIG welding equipment.
By the end of the course, you will have gained introductory knowledge and practical experience of Tungsten Inert Gas welding. This provides a strong starting point for developing your welding skills further, with opportunities to progress to welding courses at Levels 2 and 3.
The course fee shown is the co-funded rate which is only available for people living in the local authority areas of Cheshire West and Chester or Cheshire East. If you live outside of these local authorities please contact the College for fee information.

Do I pay this fee?
Higher Education courses such as HNCs and HNDs can be self-funded through a payment plan. However, for eligible students, a tuition fee loan can fund your course through Student Finance England and you may be eligible for a maintenance loan to support your education.
Please note, you should apply for your loan before the course starts. You only commit to the loan once you begin attending the course.
