The Level 1 Award in Introductory Manual Metal Arc (MMA) Welding is ideal if you are new to welding and want to gain practical experience using the MMA welding process. The course provides a hands-on introduction, helping you develop your technique, accuracy and confidence in a workshop environment.
Topics include:
Practical sessions give you the opportunity to become familiar with MMA welding equipment and practise producing a range of different welds and joints. You will develop your ability to work safely and accurately while building the practical skills needed to produce welds to a good standard.
Health and safety is an important part of the course, providing an understanding of safe working practices and the precautions required when working with welding equipment.
By the end of the course, you will have gained introductory knowledge and practical experience of Manual Metal Arc welding. This provides a useful starting point for developing your welding skills further, with opportunities to progress to welding courses at Levels 2 and 3.
The course fee shown is the co-funded rate which is only available for people living in the local authority areas of Cheshire West and Chester or Cheshire East. If you live outside of these local authorities please contact the College for fee information.

Do I pay this fee?
Higher Education courses such as HNCs and HNDs can be self-funded through a payment plan. However, for eligible students, a tuition fee loan can fund your course through Student Finance England and you may be eligible for a maintenance loan to support your education.
Please note, you should apply for your loan before the course starts. You only commit to the loan once you begin attending the course.
