This course builds on your existing CAD
knowledge and introduces how designs are brought to life through subtractive
manufacturing. It focuses on the practical use of CNC machining and laser
cutting, which are widely used across engineering and manufacturing
industries.
You will explore how digital designs are
translated into machine instructions and how materials are shaped using
precision equipment. The course provides hands-on experience with
industry-standard tools, helping you understand how components are produced in
real working environments.
This is a suitable next step if you already
have some design experience and want to develop practical skills. It offers a
clear link between digital design and manufacturing processes.
The course also supports local employer
demand for CNC-ready skills and provides a foundation for further study or entry
into engineering, fabrication, or digital manufacturing roles.
The course fee shown is the co-funded rate which is only available for people living in the local authority areas of Cheshire West and Chester or Cheshire East. If you live outside of these local authorities please contact the College for fee information.

Do I pay this fee?
Higher Education courses such as HNCs and HNDs can be self-funded through a payment plan. However, for eligible students, a tuition fee loan can fund your course through Student Finance England and you may be eligible for a maintenance loan to support your education.
Please note, you should apply for your loan before the course starts. You only commit to the loan once you begin attending the course.
