Cheshire College – South & West is proud to announce that the Academy West team has won the Top Team Award at the Chester Hospitality People Awards 2025. This prestigious accolade celebrates outstanding innovation, proactivity, and exceptional results within Chester’s vibrant hospitality sector.

The Chester Hospitality People Awards, held on Thursday 26th June at Chester Racecourse, honoured Chester’s hospitality industry. The event featured 16 award categories and highlighted the remarkable talent and dedication that make the region’s hospitality sector exceptional.

Having been shortlisted among the region’s best, the tutors and support staff of Academy West continue to demonstrate impeccable knowledge, exceptional customer-focused planning, and significant contributions to the financial success of their operations — qualities that distinguished them as leaders in a highly competitive field.

Adam Gaunt-Evans, Hospitality Lecturer at Cheshire College, said:

“This award is an acknowledgement of the hard work and dedication our team invests every day. It reflects not just our commitment to excellence, but also the collaborative spirit and passion that drives us to deliver an outstanding hospitality experience, both in education and in practice.”

Jasbir Dhesi OBE, Principal and CEO of Cheshire College, added:

“This Top Team Award highlights the exceptional dedication and expertise within our Academy West team. We are committed to delivering industry-leading education that not only equips our students with vital skills but also fosters a culture of innovation and excellence.”

“This recognition reinforces our role in shaping the future of hospitality and underlines the strength of our partnerships within the industry.”

The award-winning Academy West Restaurant, located at Cheshire College’s Ellesmere Port Campus, offers a unique fine dining experience featuring locally sourced produce from Cheshire and the Wirral.

The restaurant holds several prestigious accreditations, including a Highly Commended College Rosette from AA Hotel Services and a Gold Accreditation & Centre of Excellence for Food & Beverage Service from People First.

The Academy West team also regularly partners with prestigious local venues, including Chester Cathedral and Chester Town Hall, showcasing their skills and expertise to the wider community.
