Students Take the Lead as Staff Earn Top Hospitality Team Recognition

Cheshire College – South & West’s Academy team at Crewe Campus is celebrating after receiving a Highly Commended Top Team Award at the Cheshire East Hospitality Association (CEHA) People Awards, held at Crewe Hall Hotel & Spa.

The relaunch of the CEHA People Awards signals an exciting new era for Cheshire’s booming visitor economy — celebrating rising stars, established professionals, and the partnerships that drive excellence in hospitality.

At the same event, 50 students from the College’s Academy Restaurant played a leading role, planning, preparing, cooking, and serving over 170 guests, including hospitality leaders, regional employers, and industry innovators.

Level 3 Student and Front of House Supervisor Leah commented:

“Managing a team over 20 at such a high-profile event really boosted my leadership and organisation skills and gave me a real insight into running a large-scale hospitality event from start to finish.”

Helen Nellist, Deputy Principal and Deputy CEO of Cheshire College, said:

“We’re incredibly proud of our Hospitality and Catering team for receiving the recognition, but equally proud of our students who took the lead on the night. Their hard work, professionalism, and confidence in delivering a high-profile event truly made the College shine and demonstrated what can be achieved when students and staff work together.”

The CEHA People Awards provide a platform to recognise excellence across Cheshire’s hospitality sector, bringing together businesses, educators, and emerging talent shaping the region’s vibrant hospitality scene.

Cheshire College – South & West continues to prepare the next generation of hospitality leaders, combining high-quality education with real-world experience to set new standards for the industry.
