FE Commissioner Pays Special Visit to Cheshire College

Cheshire College – South & West was delighted to welcome Further Education Commissioner Shelagh Legrave  CBE  to its Crewe Campus earlier this week.

Legrave was greeted by Principal and CEO Jasbir Dhesi OBE, Deputy Principal Helen Nellist, and Chair of the Cheshire College Corporation Lesley Davies CBE, who all gave the FE Commissioner a personalised guided tour of the site.

Among the facilities which Legrave visited on her tour were the spacious Art & Design classrooms, the modern, state-of-the-art gaming rooms for Esports students, and the College’s new £150K training hospital ward which features cutting-edge dental simulation equipment, digital reality programmes, tactile models and life-like mannequins, and specialist teaching staff.

In the hospital ward, Legrave was also shown one of the site’s cutting-edge Anatomage tables; the most technologically advanced 3D anatomy visualisation and virtual dissection tool for anatomy and physiology education, which is used by many of the world’s leading medical institutions.

Legrave’s tour concluded her visit by meeting members of the College’s Student Senate, who shared details of their individual Senate roles, their reasons for choosing to study at Cheshire College, and their reflections on their student experience.

The Commissioner appeared pleased to learn that students could travel to Campus from further afield via the College’s free transport services, after speaking with a Senate member who travelled in from Shropshire.

After the College shared the news of Legrave’s visit on social media, the Commissioner responded to a tweet on X (formerly Twitter) with the following message:

“Thank you @CheshireCollSW for hosting me. What a stunning college and supporting a very rural area with high quality provision.”

Cheshire College are now accepting applications for September 2024 for those interested in studying a diverse range of subjects, designed to provide students with combined skills and knowledge that will fully prepare them for the next exciting stage of their life.
