Develop your scientific knowledge and practical laboratory skills with this two-year Science T Level, specialising in Laboratory Science. Equivalent to three A Levels, this qualification combines classroom learning with practical activities and valuable industry experience.
You'll explore the principles of Biology, Chemistry and Physics while developing the technical skills needed to work in a professional laboratory environment.

During your first year, you'll build your understanding of core scientific principles. You'll study topics such as biological molecules, cell structures and chemical reactions. You'll also explore electricity, radiation and the ethical considerations involved in scientific research.
In your second year, you'll specialise in Laboratory Science. You'll develop practical laboratory techniques and learn how to follow standard operating procedures. You'll also explore scientific applications while developing your ability to collect and analyse experimental data.
As part of the course, you'll complete an industry placement of at least 315 hours, approximately 45 days, with an employer. This gives you the opportunity to experience a professional workplace and apply your scientific knowledge in a practical setting.
You can progress onto higher education courses in Biomedical Science, Applied Science, Food Science, Agricultural Science or Environmental Science.
You could also explore higher apprenticeships, including Healthcare Science Associate or Technician Scientist pathways.
This qualification can support your progression towards careers in laboratory research, biomedical science, food safety or other science-related industries. Some specialist careers will require further qualifications.
The course fee shown is the co-funded rate which is only available for people living in the local authority areas of Cheshire West and Chester or Cheshire East. If you live outside of these local authorities please contact the College for fee information.

Do I pay this fee?
Higher Education courses such as HNCs and HNDs can be self-funded through a payment plan. However, for eligible students, a tuition fee loan can fund your course through Student Finance England and you may be eligible for a maintenance loan to support your education.
Please note, you should apply for your loan before the course starts. You only commit to the loan once you begin attending the course.
