Cheshire College – South & West has celebrated the exceptional dedication, talent and commitment of its staff at this year’s Staff Awards, recognising the individuals and teams who make a lasting difference to students, colleagues and the wider community.
Two awards ceremonies, held at the College’s Ellesmere Port and Crewe campuses, brought together colleagues from across all three sites to honour those who consistently go above and beyond in their roles.

The annual awards shine a spotlight on the people who help shape the College’s success every day, recognising excellence across teaching, student support, leadership, innovation, collaboration and community engagement.
Winners were selected from nominations submitted by both students and colleagues, reflecting the significant impact they have across the College community.
Jasbir Dhesi OBE, Principal and CEO of Cheshire College, commented:
“These awards provide an important opportunity to recognise and celebrate the extraordinary contribution our staff make across the College every day.”
“Our colleagues are at the heart of everything we do. Their expertise, passion and commitment help create outstanding learning experiences and ensure our students have the support, encouragement and opportunities they need to succeed.”
“Congratulations to all of this year’s winners and thank you to every member of staff who makes Cheshire College such a special place to learn and work.”

Apprentice Recruitment Placement Officer at Ellesmere Port Campus, Becky Smythe, won the Rising Star Award. She commented:
“I was delighted to receive this award and be recognised alongside so many talented and dedicated colleagues. These awards are an amazing way for the college to recognise staff who consistently go above and beyond in their roles.”
Business Lecturer at Crewe Campus, Christopher Abramovs, won the Learner Legend Award. He said:
“To know that I was nominated by over 100 students makes this recognition especially meaningful, as it comes directly from the learners I have the privilege of teaching every day. The ceremony was a wonderful celebration of the dedication and achievements of staff across the organisation, and I feel incredibly grateful to have been part of it. Thank you to all the students who took the time to nominate me, your support means a great deal.”

Learning Resource Centre Assistant at Crewe Campus, Nicola Barnett, won the Health and Wellbeing Award. She commented:
“Our hall had been transformed into a stylish venue with eloquent chairs, balloons and snazzy lighting. When my name appeared on the screen, it was totally unexpected and a lovely surprise. It is a very special event every year, which I look forward to! It is a chance to come together and celebrate as a College. I feel so happy and appreciated, I can’t stop smiling!”
