Starting College is a big step! It’s completely normal to feel a mix of excitement and nerves, and you might have lots of questions too. No two College journeys are the same, and that’s why student support is at the heart of everything we do.
Every student arrives at College with different goals, experiences, and challenges, and our priority is making sure you feel happy, comfortable, and supported while you’re on Campus. This allows you to focus on learning, growing, making friends, and enjoying College life.
A Support Network Built Around You
From day one, you’ll have access to a wide range of support services tailored to your individual needs. Whether you need help settling in, managing your workload, or balancing College with life outside the classroom, there’s always someone ready to listen and help. Our approach isn’t one-size-fits-all, and we take the time to understand you and connect you with the right support at the right time.
We’re proud to offer an inclusive, welcoming Campus where everyone belongs. Our services are designed to remove barriers, celebrate differences, and make sure all students can fully take part in College life.
Support When You Need It Most
- Additional Learning Support (ALS): If you have Special Educational Needs (SEND) or inclusion needs, our specialist ALS team can provide tailored support to help you feel confident and succeed on your course.
- Wellbeing Support and Counselling: If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or just need someone to talk to, our trained wellbeing coaches and counsellors are here for you. Support is confidential, and we can also help you access specialist services if needed.
- Be Safe (Safeguarding) Team: Your safety and wellbeing are our top priority. If you’re ever worried about yourself or someone else, you can contact the Be Safe team through the Student Intranet, and they’ll make sure that the right support is offered quickly and sensitively.
- Financial Support: We’re proud to offer free transport for eligible students aged 16–18, plus bursaries* to help with important costs such as equipment, meals, uniform, or childcare.
- Personal Development Tutors: A dedicated tutor will be assigned to you during your first week at College, with weekly check-ins to support your progress, wellbeing, and next steps.
- Ear 4 You: If you’d prefer to talk to someone your own age, Ear 4 You is a student-led listening service. They’re there to listen without judgement and help you find further support if you need it.
- Careers Advice: Our on-site careers advisers can help with CV writing, career ideas, work opportunities, and planning your next steps — whether that’s university, an apprenticeship, or employment.
- Futures Programme: Unique academic pathways designed to support progression into top universities including OxBridge and Russell Group universities and high-level employment. We’re proud to work in partnership with University of Oxford as one of only seven national OxNet Hubs!
