THE NEWS AT CHESHIRE COLLEGE:

Cheshire College Welcomes New Students Ahead of September Start

July 8, 2026

Cheshire College – South & West welcomed prospective students as part of its annual transition and welcome programme, designed to support those preparing to begin their studies in September.

Held across the College’s Crewe, Chester and Ellesmere Port campuses, the welcome events gave students preparing to begin vocational, technical, and A Level courses this September the opportunity to familiarise themselves with their new learning environment before officially starting College.

Throughout the events, students met their future lecturers and classmates, explored their chosen curriculum areas and experienced the College’s state-of-the-art facilities. From Academy restaurants and theatres to engineering workshops, aircraft training facilities and professional hairdressing salons, students gained a first-hand insight into the environments where they will study and a taste of what their course will involve.

As part of the programme, prospective A Level students also attended a dedicated Welcome Day at the Crewe campus, where they sampled lessons, met future classmates and gained an insight into studying A Levels before receiving their GCSE results in August.

Ruth Szolkowska, Vice Principal Innovation, Curriculum and Quality at Cheshire College – South & West, said:

“Our welcome events are an important part of helping students make a confident transition into further education. They provide the opportunity to meet teaching staff, explore our campuses and experience the facilities they will be using throughout their studies. Whether students are progressing onto a vocational course, T Level, or A Levels, we want them to feel informed, supported and excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.”

The transition events form part of Cheshire College – South & West’s commitment to supporting students before they begin their studies, ensuring they arrive in September feeling prepared and ready to succeed.

Applications for September remain open, and school leavers can still secure a place on a wide range of courses. To find out more or apply, visit www.ccsw.ac.uk.
