Cheshire College Lecturer and Liverpool Hair Expert Named Finalist at UK Hair and Beauty Awards

A leading Liverpool hair expert and lecturer at Cheshire College – South & West has been named a finalist at one of the UK’s most prestigious industry events. 

Andrew Joseph Manion, a specialist colourist and founder of AJM Hair Liverpool, has been shortlisted for Hair Colour Specialist of the Year 2026 at the UK Hair and Beauty Awards 2026. The national awards celebrate excellence, creativity and innovation across the hair and beauty sector, attracting thousands of entries each year. 

Andrew’s recognition reflects over two decades of experience in the industry, alongside his commitment to developing the next generation of talent through his teaching at Cheshire College. 

Speaking on the nomination, Andrew said: 

“I’m thrilled to have made it to the finals, through a rigorous judging process of 1000’s of applicants.”  

“After starting as a colour technician and expanding my skills over 20 years, this recognition truly means so much to me and I can’t wait for the finals in Manchester”  

Ruth Szolkowska, Vice Principal for Innovation, Curriculum, and Quality at Cheshire College, said: 

“Andrew’s achievement is a fantastic reflection of both his talent and dedication to the industry. He brings real-world expertise into the classroom every day, inspiring our students with his passion, knowledge and drive. We’re incredibly proud to see him recognised on a national stage.” 

The CEO of The UK Hair and Beauty Awards added:

The winners of the UK Hair and Beauty Awards 2026 will be announced at a ceremony in Manchester later this year. 

Andrew’s success highlights the strength of industry-led teaching at Cheshire College – South & West, where students benefit from learning directly from experienced professionals working at the forefront of the sector.
