eFIXX Roadshow Sparks Inspiration at Cheshire College Crewe Campus

Cheshire College – South & West recently welcomed the eFIXX College Connection Roadshow to their Crewe Campus, delivering an engaging and interactive experience for Electrical Installation students eager to pursue careers in the electrical industry.

Led by Electrical Teaching specialist Gary Hayers and the eFIXX team, the event brought together leading manufacturers and suppliers from across the sector to provide hands-on learning opportunities and expert career guidance, as well as donating materials and resources for use in both the classroom and the workshop.

Throughout the day, students participated in themed workshops covering key industry topics such as safe isolation, wireless switching, smart home technology, lighting systems, cable types, protective devices, and testing procedures. These sessions extended learning beyond the classroom, offering practical experience with the latest tools and technologies shaping the future of the electrical trade.

Lunch was provided by the College’s Academy Restaurant, where Catering and Hospitality students showcased their skills by preparing and serving meals for guests. Their professionalism and high-quality service were praised by all attendees, reflecting the exceptional standards delivered across all curriculum areas at Cheshire College.

Nathan Lundie, Electrical Installation Lecturer, commented:

“It was a fantastic day for our students. They gained invaluable advice on securing apprenticeships, which is increasingly competitive in our industry. The biggest takeaway was that the only thing standing between them and becoming the best electricians they can be, is themselves.”

The event also featured Q&A sessions, networking opportunities, and prize giveaways, with students representing the College with enthusiasm and professionalism throughout.

Industry partners including Doncaster Cables, ROBUS Lighting, SCAME UK, Test Instrument Solutions, Niglon Ltd, Luceco Group, and BEAMA generously shared their expertise and donated resources to support the department’s continued delivery of high-quality, industry-relevant education.

Nathan added:

“The eFIXX team and all the manufacturers who invested their time in our students were a pleasure to work with. Their commitment to education and the next generation of electricians is clear to see. We’re excited to integrate the fantastic new equipment they’ve provided into our workshops.”

The eFIXX College Connection Roadshow continues to visit colleges across the UK, inspiring students and strengthening the link between education and the electrical industry.
