The Course

This two-year T Level programme combines classroom learning, practical activities and industry experience to prepare you for a future in engineering and manufacturing. Alongside developing your technical knowledge, you will complete an industry placement with an employer, giving you valuable experience of a real engineering workplace.

The core element of the programme provides a broad understanding of engineering and manufacturing. You will explore areas such as mechanical principles, mechatronics, control systems and materials, alongside the mathematics and science that underpin engineering.

The programme also introduces the commercial and professional side of the industry. This includes quality assurance, continuous improvement, stock and asset management, project management and the professional behaviours expected within an engineering environment.

As part of the Design and Development specialism, you will explore how engineering products and solutions move from an initial idea through the design process. This includes understanding customer requirements, applying design principles and communicating ideas effectively.

A substantial industry placement forms an important part of the T Level, providing the opportunity to apply your knowledge in the workplace and develop experience alongside industry professionals.

By the end of the programme, you will have developed a strong combination of technical knowledge, practical skills and industry experience, preparing you to progress to skilled employment, an Apprenticeship or higher-level study in engineering and manufacturing.

Typically you will need 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C (or above), including grade 4/C (or above) for maths and English.
You will gain a range of skills and substantial experience of working for employers which will give you progression options to skilled employment. You could also progress to higher level study on courses such as HNC/D at the College and foundation degree or degree programmes at university. Additionally, you could progress to an apprenticehsip.

The course fee shown is the co-funded rate which is only available for people living in the local authority areas of Cheshire West and Chester or Cheshire East. If you live outside of these local authorities please contact the College for fee information.

Funding for Adult Courses

You may see a fee attached to the course you’re interested in, but if you are 19+ there may be funding options available to cover the cost of your course.

Higher Education Funding

There is funding available for eligible students.

Do I pay this fee?

Higher Education courses such as HNCs and HNDs can be self-funded through a payment plan. However, for eligible students, a tuition fee loan can fund your course through Student Finance England and you may be eligible for a maintenance loan to support your education.

Please note, you should apply for your loan before the course starts. You only commit to the loan once you begin attending the course.
