Cheshire College welcomes Council members from Reutlingen, Germany

Cheshire College – South & West welcomed Council members from Reutlingen, Germany, to their Ellesmere Port Campus on the 19th May 2022 to showcase their vocational offering and share best practices in how this compares between the towns.

This visit was one of many between Ellesmere Port and Reutlingen as the twinning of the two towns has been in place for nearly half a century.

Six Council members, including The Lord Mayor of Reutlingen, Thomas Keck, and Anke Bächtiger, Head of the Reutlingen Cultural Office, were greeted by staff and learners at Cheshire College as they showcased their state-of-the-art facilities and technical qualification provision.

Cheshire College offer learners a wide variety of technical qualifications to choose from. Designed in partnership with employers, Universities and professional or trade organisations, the courses in areas such as Construction, Science, Digital and Engineering provide an opportunity to learn fundamental skills that employers want. As part of their technical qualifications offering, Cheshire College were one of the first to introduce the new technical qualifications, T Levels in September 2021. Primarily aimed at 16-18 year old learners, these qualifications were part of the Government’s flagship to reform technical education in England.

During the visit to Cheshire College, guests were given a private tour of the Campus including the T Level Construction and Engineering industry workshops, Virtual Reality room and aircraft cabin.

Assistant Principal, Mark Parsons, said of the visit: “It was fantastic to welcome the visitors from Reutlingen’s Town Council to our Ellesmere Port Campus.

“Our learners have benefitted tremendously from the training available at Cheshire College as it’s provided a strong foundation for further study, helped them decide what type of work they’re best suited to and ultimately what career they will succeed in. It was great to shine a light on that during this visit and learn more about how learners in Reutlingen respond to this type of offering within technical qualifications.”

From September 2022, Cheshire College will be offering additional T Levels in Management and Administration, Design and Development, Manufacturing, Processing and Control and Maintenance, Installation and Repair.
