Cheshire College – South & West kicked off the academic year with a series of Freshers’ Fairs across its Crewe, Chester, and Ellesmere Port campuses, welcoming hundreds of new and returning students to explore opportunities, meet new people, and settle into college life.
From wellbeing services and volunteering groups to career advice and student-led initiatives, the fairs were designed to help learners settle in and feel part of the College community.
A wide range of organisations took part, including Nestlé, Donutology, Samaritans, Her Place, and other local businesses and charities, offering interactive activities, guidance, and products for sale.
The College’s Student Senate also played an active role, engaging with new students as well as promoting student voice and involvement across campus life.

Kai Greaves, Student Governor, said:
“The Freshers’ Fair was such a great way to kick off the year — there were lots of stalls, freebies, and opportunities to sign up for enrichment activities. The Senate was really pleased with the numbers attending and worked hard to make sure everyone had a great time.”
Helen Nellist, Deputy Principal and Deputy CEO of Cheshire College, added:
“Freshers’ Fairs are an important part of the student experience. They give students the chance to connect with others, discover what’s available to them, and begin building relationships that will support them throughout their time at college.”
“It was fantastic to see so many organisations and students engaging with one another across all three campuses.”

With the Freshers’ Fairs complete, the College continued its welcome programme with the Careers Fairs in partnership with The Pledge, offering students further opportunities to explore future pathways and connect with employers.
As the academic year gets underway, Cheshire College continues to focus on creating a welcoming and enriching environment where every student can thrive.
