Develop your creative practice at a more advanced and professional level with this Level 5 HND Fine Art course.
Building on the skills, knowledge and creative confidence developed at HNC level, you’ll undertake research-led independent projects within your chosen area of visual arts. You’ll refine your technical skills, strengthen your critical thinking and develop a distinctive creative voice through ambitious, portfolio-focused work.
Topics you will study include:
You’ll develop your work through independent, project-based learning supported by research, critical reflection and professional development. Opportunities to engage with live briefs, exhibitions and professional projects will help you understand the expectations of the creative industries and build a substantial professional portfolio.
You’ll have access to specialist Higher Education facilities, including the HE Design Studio with Apple Macs and creative software, photography studios and a traditional darkroom, screen printing and surface pattern facilities, textiles workshops, professional DSLR cameras, studio lighting and advanced post-production equipment. Exhibition and gallery spaces also provide opportunities to present work to public audiences.
Modules
B1: Professional Creative Practice – Respond to professional creative briefs and develop a substantial body of work aligned with industry expectations. You’ll apply critical, technical and project management skills throughout your work.
B2: Applied Research and Specialist Project – Complete a major research-led independent project culminating in a professional body of creative work that demonstrates technical ability, originality and critical contextual understanding.
The course fee shown is the co-funded rate which is only available for people living in the local authority areas of Cheshire West and Chester or Cheshire East. If you live outside of these local authorities please contact the College for fee information.

Do I pay this fee?
Higher Education courses such as HNCs and HNDs can be self-funded through a payment plan. However, for eligible students, a tuition fee loan can fund your course through Student Finance England and you may be eligible for a maintenance loan to support your education.
Please note, you should apply for your loan before the course starts. You only commit to the loan once you begin attending the course.
