Develop your creative practice and explore a wide range of visual arts disciplines with this Level 4 HNC Fine Art course.
This broad-based programme gives you the freedom to explore fine art, design, graphic design, photography, textiles, surface pattern and illustration. You can choose to specialise in a particular area or combine different disciplines through flexible, student-centred projects.
You’ll experiment with different materials, techniques and creative processes while developing your practical skills, critical thinking and understanding of historical and contemporary creative practice. Assignments reflect real-world creative challenges and will help you develop a diverse professional portfolio.
Topics you will study include:
You’ll begin with hands-on creative workshops covering a range of disciplines and technical processes before progressing to more independent project work. One-to-one tutorials and group critiques will support you as you develop your own creative direction.
You’ll have access to specialist Higher Education facilities, including a dedicated HE Design Studio with Apple Macs and Adobe Creative Suite, photographic studios and a black and white darkroom, professional DSLR cameras and studio lighting, printmaking facilities, and specialist textiles and surface design equipment.
Modules
A1: Concept and Development – Develop ideas through research, experimentation and exploration of materials and processes. You’ll investigate contemporary and historical contexts and develop solutions to creative challenges through an iterative approach.
A2: Creative Project – Complete a substantial self-directed creative project based on a theme of your choice, supported by contextual research and professional presentation.
The course fee shown is the co-funded rate which is only available for people living in the local authority areas of Cheshire West and Chester or Cheshire East. If you live outside of these local authorities please contact the College for fee information.

Do I pay this fee?
Higher Education courses such as HNCs and HNDs can be self-funded through a payment plan. However, for eligible students, a tuition fee loan can fund your course through Student Finance England and you may be eligible for a maintenance loan to support your education.
Please note, you should apply for your loan before the course starts. You only commit to the loan once you begin attending the course.
