The Course

Develop your understanding of the media and creative industries with this two-year T Level in Media, Broadcast and Production. You'll explore how the creative sector operates, how media projects are developed and how professionals respond to the needs of different audiences.

Throughout the course, you'll explore the role of individuals working in creative industries and develop an understanding of the wider media sector. You'll learn how cultural influences shape creative work and why understanding your audience is important when developing media projects.

You'll also develop research skills and learn about the processes involved in planning and managing creative projects. This includes understanding relevant legislation, workplace expectations and the professional responsibilities involved in the industry.

An important part of your T Level is the industry placement. You'll spend a minimum of nine weeks working with an employer, gaining valuable workplace experience and developing your understanding of professional practices.

This course provides an introduction to the media and creative industries, helping you build the knowledge needed for further study or future employment.

Typically, you will need 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including a 4/4 combination for Maths and English.

T Levels offer many opportunities for progression, including:

  • Employment – You can use the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained to start working in careers such as studio sound engineeer, audio visual technician, live sound engineer, TV or film sound technician, stagehand, lighting technician, TV or film production assistant, video editor, media researcher TV or film assistant director, broadcast engineer, TV or film camera operator and many more.
  • Apprenticeship – There are many opportunities offered through apprenticeships that allow you to carry on learning (20%) whilst spending most of your time (80%) furthering your skills in the workplace
  • Higher Education – If you choose to study further, your T Level is worth UCAS points and will allow you entry onto certain courses. Please check the UCAS website as course entry requirements vary

The overall aim of this T Level is to see you progress into a career in the media, broadcast and production sector.

The course fee shown is the co-funded rate which is only available for people living in the local authority areas of Cheshire West and Chester or Cheshire East. If you live outside of these local authorities please contact the College for fee information.

Funding for Adult Courses

You may see a fee attached to the course you’re interested in, but if you are 19+ there may be funding options available to cover the cost of your course.

There is funding available for eligible students.

Do I pay this fee?

Higher Education courses such as HNCs and HNDs can be self-funded through a payment plan. However, for eligible students, a tuition fee loan can fund your course through Student Finance England and you may be eligible for a maintenance loan to support your education.

Please note, you should apply for your loan before the course starts. You only commit to the loan once you begin attending the course.
