This course builds on your existing coding knowledge and develops the practical and technical skills needed for software development. It is ideal if you are looking to progress to higher-level study or take your next steps towards a career in the digital sector.
Topics include:
Throughout the course, you will explore more advanced approaches to programming and learn how software is planned, designed, developed and tested. Problem-solving and computational thinking will play an important part, helping you approach development tasks logically and accurately.
You will gain experience of object-oriented programming, algorithms and data structures, alongside techniques for testing and debugging software. The course also explores the software development lifecycle, project management and version control, giving you an understanding of how development projects are managed and how developers work together.
A substantial coding project will give you the opportunity to bring these skills together, from planning and development through to presenting your finished work. You will also build confidence working independently and producing code that is clear, structured and maintainable.
By the end of the course, you will have developed a stronger understanding of software development and a broader range of coding skills, preparing you for further study or progression towards a career in the technology sector.
The course fee shown is the co-funded rate which is only available for people living in the local authority areas of Cheshire West and Chester or Cheshire East. If you live outside of these local authorities please contact the College for fee information.

Do I pay this fee?
Higher Education courses such as HNCs and HNDs can be self-funded through a payment plan. However, for eligible students, a tuition fee loan can fund your course through Student Finance England and you may be eligible for a maintenance loan to support your education.
Please note, you should apply for your loan before the course starts. You only commit to the loan once you begin attending the course.
