How to apply

The Course

This course introduces the key ideas behind coding and how software is created. It is a good starting point if you want to understand how digital systems work and how coding is used in everyday life.

You will build your understanding of how programming works and how developers create digital products. The course focuses on developing strong theoretical foundations so you can understand the key concepts behind coding and software development.

You will explore:

  • Computational thinking
  • Writing and interpreting basic code
  • How websites and applications are created
  • Testing processes and identifying errors
  • Cyber security and safe digital practice
  • The role of coding across different industries

This course will also help you understand how coding is used across different job roles. It is ideal if you are new to coding or want to develop useful digital skills for work or further study.

There are no formal qualifications required. An interest in coding, technology, or digital skills will help you get the most out of this course.
You can progress onto a Level 3 Certificate in Coding Practices or move into further digital or IT training.
