Cheshire College qualifies for Educate North Awards finals

Cheshire College – South & West has been chosen as a finalist within the Community Engagement (Higher Education and Further Education) Category for the 2023 Educate North Awards.

The Educate North Awards celebrate, recognise and share excellence in the education sector in the North. The awards attract over 400 education professionals from Further and Higher Education institutions offering a diverse range of courses in sectors such as IT, Digital, Engineering and Construction.

After receiving a record number of entries, Cheshire College was selected by Educate North as part of their finalist line-up.

The Community Engagement Award recognises academic institutions which enhance their students’ learning experiences through effective partnerships with the wider community.

Cheshire College was selected as a finalist due to their strong working relationships with local primary and secondary schools which enable them to run their annual Primary and Secondary College programmes, benefiting over 3,000 students. The initiative has been running for over 25 years and helps to raise aspiration, experience innovative and immersive learning environments on Campus at Cheshire College.

Principal and CEO of Cheshire College, Dhesi OBE, says: “I’m extremely proud of the Cheshire College team and our students. We are also grateful to the many local communities and businesses who have allowed our students to flourish. We will continue to find new, exciting ways to develop alongside our communities, and to ensure that our partnerships remain mutually beneficial.”

This news also follows the recent announcement that Cheshire and Warrington region has been selected by the Department for Education (DfE) and Institute of Technology (IoT) to lead on a highly prestigious project between employers and colleges that will see £14.2m invested within the region. Cheshire College is leading this joint venture which is part of a wider government plan to equip young people with the technical skills they need in priority areas, such as advanced manufacturing, digital and cyber security, health and life sciences, agri-tech, construction, science and maths, which will also benefit local employers.

The winner will be announced at the awards ceremony on Thursday 27th April 2023 in Manchester.
