Course Summary

This course is a structured online course with the flexibility to start throughout the year and study from anywhere. The course features the following:

This course covers the essential accountancy areas and skills such as double-entry bookkeeping and basic costing, as well as an understanding of purchase, sales and general ledgers. You will learn to use accounting software and to develop the professional skills and behaviours needed to contribute effectively in the workplace. Working in accountancy requires good communication skills, IT skills and an understanding of the business environment, all of which are covered by this

The AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting covers a range of foundation accounting and finance skills in four mandatory units:
• Bookkeeping Transactions
• Bookkeeping Controls
• Using Accounting Software
• Work Effectively in Finance

The purpose of this qualification is to ensure that you are well prepared to progress into a career in business, finance or professional accountancy, or into further education.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however a good standard of English and maths would be beneficial.

Next Steps
You could progress on to the Level 3 AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting. The finance, accountancy, business and communications skills developed in the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting can lead to employment as: - an accounts administrator - an accounts assistant - an accounts payable clerk - a purchase/sales ledger clerk - a trainee accounting technician - a trainee finance assistant

Your course may be FREE if you are:
  • Aged 19+ (subject to eligibility) and earning less than £17,374.50 per year (£1,447 per month) studying on Level 1 or Level 2 courses*
  • Aged 16-18 years
  • Aged 19-23 years and studying for your first full Level 2 or full Level 3 qualification

  • * from 1 April 2022 earnings limit is increased to £18,525 per year (£1,543 per month)
Depending on the cost of your course, you could pay your course fees in instalments to spread the cost over the duration of the course.
