Welcome Day: Your First Taste of College Life

Before your official first day at College, we’ll give you a head start by inviting you to your Welcome Day. This exciting event is a relaxed, friendly introduction to Campus life that helps you feel confident, prepared, and excited for what’s ahead.

Usually held in June or July, Welcome Day is your chance to step into your future as a Cheshire College student. It’s designed to help remove any worries about starting at College, answer your questions, and give you a real feel for what studying your chosen course will be like.

Meet Your People

Welcome Day is a great chance to meet your future classmates and lecturers. You’ll be studying alongside these people all year, so it’s a perfect opportunity to start making connections before your course begins.

If you’re feeling nervous, don’t worry — that’s completely normal. Most students feel the same way, and many students find it reassuring to meet others who are in the same position. Our lecturers will also be there to introduce themselves, answer questions, and show you how they’ll support you during your time at College. It’s a relaxed environment where no question is too small, and curiosity is always encouraged.

Experience a Day on Your Course

Welcome Day isn’t just about talks and tours! You’ll also get to experience what lessons will actually be like once your course begins. This might include sample activities, taster sessions, or practical demonstrations linked to your course. It’s a brilliant way to understand how you’ll learn and what the classrooms or workshops are like. It will also provide some helpful insights into what skills you’ll start developing from day one.

Explore the Campus

You’ll have time to explore your Campus, find key areas, and start feeling at home. From classrooms and workshops to social spaces, you’ll get to see where you’ll be spending your time.

You can also enjoy a delicious free lunch, check out our state-of-the-art facilities, and enjoy a visit to our onsite Costa Coffee – the perfect place to relax and chat with new classmates!

Start Feeling Like a Student

Welcome Day is all about helping you feel ready and confident before term starts. By the time you leave, you’ll know where you’re going, who you’ll be learning with, and what to expect when your first official day arrives.

We can’t wait to welcome you on Campus this Summer! Welcome Day is just the beginning of your College journey, and it’s one you won’t want to miss.

Welcome Day FAQs

When will I be invited?

Welcome Day invitations will be sent out at the start of June, giving you plenty of time to plan ahead. We strongly encourage you to attend if you can, as it’s the best way to get a head start before term begins.

How will I be invited?

Your invitation will be sent to the email address you used when you applied for your course. We’ll also contact your parent or carer with the details to make sure they know all about Welcome Day too.

If your contact email address has changed or you think it might be incorrect, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing admissions@ccsw.ac.uk, so you don’t miss any important information.

Is there only one Welcome Day event each year?

Each year, we run two Welcome Day events, tailored to different types of courses to make sure that every student gets the most relevant experience possible. You will only be invited to one Welcome Day event, and no student will attend more than one Welcome Day.

  • A Level students will be invited to a dedicated Welcome Day at our Crewe Campus
  • Vocational students at all Campuses (including BTEC and T Level courses) will have their own Welcome Day designed around their courses

This ensures that your Welcome Day will be focused on what matters most to you, giving you a more accurate and helpful introduction to life on your course.

What if I have questions or can’t attend?

If you have any questions or can’t attend Welcome Day, just email admissions@ccsw.ac.uk. Our friendly Admissions Team are happy to help and will make sure you have the information you need to start College feeling confident and supported.
